Sarah Luczaj PhD (Dip.Couns, MBACP)

counsellor and reiki practitioner based in glasgow

I'm Sarah, a counsellor and Reiki practitioner with over 20 years experience.

If you feel stuck in any part of your life, or have a sense of disconnection, maybe you're suffering a loss, in a transition, in a situation or relationship which doesn't feel right, or there's something you've never really felt able to speak about - maybe you wonder whether it's even OK to feel OK in the world as it is - counselling, an attuned human relationship in which it's safe to explore, can really help.

I trained in the Person Centred Approach which centres, as the name suggests, on the person rather than the problem, on connection rather than analysis. Because words are often not enough, I also use Focusing, which accesses a felt sense of situations within the body, I've studied the neurobiology of trauma and I'm currently training in Gabor Mate's Compassionate Inquiry approach.

counselling

reiki

Reiki is a gentle process in which you lie down, fully clothed, and your body takes in natural life energy, through the hands of the practitioner. It has deep effects through relaxing the nervous system, which allows healing processes to occur on physical, emotional and spiritual levels. It's good for recovery from illness or stressful events, for physical complaints that are hard to diagnose and feel stress-related, or in times of general upheaval, such as after childbirth or perimenopause. No spiritual beliefs are necessary for it to work! Reiki can work well with counselling, either by regulating the system before talking, or enabling what has been processed verbally to sink in at the end of a session.

Reiki sessions cost £60 for an hour or £30 for half an hour. They may be booked on Wednesday - Fridays at my office in Tradeston, Glasgow. I am trained to Master level, which means I can also attune students to Reiki. I am fully insured.

about me

I'm a mixed British woman, born in England. I spent 20 years of my adult life in rural Poland, and I have two grown up daughters. I'm a writer, poet, artist and translator as well as a therapist.

My life/work is informed by Buddhist and Taoist meditation and chanting practices. I'm also on the Board of the Dunami Movement Arts Wellbeing CIC, who offer eco-somatic arts and therapy, and the co-founder of the terrealuma healing refuge in south-east Poland, where I run annual retreats in nature using the Creative Regeneration process I put together (meditation, focusing, freewriting and intuitive painting). I love messing around with musical instruments and sitting in the sun!

I have particular experience with inter-cultural issues, grief, trauma, anxiety, and neurodiversities (diagnosed and undiagnosed) and have worked extensively with 'outsiders' of all kinds. I believe strongly in speaking out against injustice and prejudice. In my work I value integrity, creativity, flexibility, authenticity and freedom.

I offer sessions in English or Polish, in person Wednesday - Friday in my office in Tradeston, Glasgow, and online on Tuesdays, with people from around the world. Usually a block of 4-6 weekly sessions is a good start - it may be enough, depending on your situation and needs, but after the initial 4-6 sessions we check in and decide what's best - you can continue weekly for as long as you need to, or fortnightly or monthly, or whenever the need arises.

Counselling or mixed Counselling/Reiki sessions cost £50 for 50 minutes, with a few concessionary spaces available. I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy and adhere to their Code of Ethics. My work is fully supervised and insured.

hello!

if you have any questions about potentially working together, send me a message here and I will get back to you, usually within 24 hours. If I have no current spaces I'll still reply - I may be able to refer you to a colleague or pop you on a waiting list. I do not offer a crisis service, so if you need to talk to someone right now and you're in the UK, consider calling the Samaritans on 116 123.
